Samyang's ultra-wide fisheye for MFT, a manual-focus creative tool with distinctive distortion.
The Samyang 7.5mm f/3.5 UMC Fisheye is a compact manual-focus fisheye lens for Micro Four Thirds and other mirrorless mounts. Providing a 180-degree diagonal field of view with strong characteristic fisheye distortion, it is a creative tool rather than an everyday lens.
Optical quality is good for a fisheye with sharp centre performance and the expected barrel distortion that defines the fisheye look. UMC coating reduces flare. Build is compact metal at just 190g. There is no autofocus — manual focus with the deep depth of field at f/5.6-8 makes this straightforward.
Available in Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, Fujifilm X, and other mirrorless mounts. No front filter thread due to the bulbous front element. Also sold as the Rokinon 7.5mm in some markets. Each mount version is optically identical.
Very cheap used. Check the bulbous front element carefully for scratches. There is nothing electronic to fail. The fisheye perspective is genuinely creative and useful for astrophotography Milky Way shots. A fun and affordable specialty lens.
