Samyang's autofocus ultra-wide prime for Sony FE, popular for astrophotography.
The Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 is an autofocus ultra-wide prime originally designed for Sony FE mount, later available for Canon RF and Nikon Z. At 14mm it provides an extremely wide 114-degree field of view. The autofocus capability distinguishes it from Samyang's earlier manual-focus 14mm.
Optical quality is decent for an ultra-wide with good centre sharpness and typical corner softness. The f/2.8 aperture is useful for Milky Way photography. Weather sealing adds durability. AF is functional but not exceptionally fast.
Available in Sony E, Canon RF, and Nikon Z mounts. No front filter thread due to the bulbous front element. The manual-focus Samyang 14mm f/2.4 XP Premium offers a wider aperture for astrophotography without AF.
Good value used. Check the bulbous front element for scratches, AF motor, and weather seals. Popular for Milky Way photography due to the 14mm f/2.8 combination. The lack of front filter thread limits landscape filter use.
