Samyang's updated 14mm f/2.8 — MK2 with improved weather sealing and AE chip for exposure.
The Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 MK2 is an updated version of Samyang's popular manual 14mm, adding an AE chip for automatic exposure communication and improved weather sealing. It provides 114° coverage on full-frame for astrophotography and landscapes.
Same optical formula as the standard 14mm f/2.8 — sharp in the centre with the expected ultra-wide characteristics. The AE chip enables aperture-priority auto exposure — no longer fully manual. Weather-sealed construction. UMC coating for flare control.
Available for multiple mounts. Bulbous front element — no filter thread. Manual focus only. AE chip provides electronic aperture control and EXIF data — meaningful improvement. Improved build with weather sealing. Also sold as Rokinon MK2.
Available used at budget to mid-range prices. The MK2's AE chip and weather sealing address the main practical criticisms of the original. The AF version adds autofocus at higher cost. For astrophotographers wanting a budget 14mm f/2.8 with exposure automation.
