Sigma's 135mm Art for Sony E — likely adapted DSLR version or early native. Same optics as ID 3583.
The Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art in Sony E mount is the adapted DSLR version of Sigma's acclaimed 135mm Art, likely using the MC-11 adapter or Sigma's mount conversion service. The optical design is identical to the Nikon/Canon versions (ID 3583) — reference-class sharpness at f/1.8. The DG DN mirrorless-native version (ID 3509) supersedes this.
Optical performance is extraordinary — the same reference-class optics regardless of mount. Sharpness is outstanding from f/1.8. The 135mm focal length at f/1.8 produces bokeh of extraordinary quality. Chromatic aberration is virtually absent. Whether adapted or converted, the optical quality is identical. The HSM motor works via the MC-11 adapter with functional AF.
Sony E mount — either via MC-11 adapter from Canon EF version, Sigma mount conversion, or native SA-mount adapted. Filter thread is 82mm. Weight is approximately 1,130 grams plus any adapter weight. Build quality is excellent Art line standard. AF via MC-11 is functional but not as fast as the native DG DN version.
Available on the used market at very attractive prices — often cheaper than the DG DN version. Check AF operation — adapted versions may have AF quirks. If budget allows, the DG DN version is preferred for faster native AF. But the optical quality is identical, making this an excellent value proposition for Sony shooters.
