Sigma's mirrorless super-telephoto zoom for L-Mount — the 150-600mm DG DN for wildlife and sports.
The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports was released in 2021 as a native mirrorless redesign of Sigma's popular super-telephoto zoom. Designed for L-Mount, it covers the most useful wildlife and sports focal range with optical stabilisation and fast autofocus. The DG DN designation confirms it was designed from the ground up for mirrorless rather than adapted from a DSLR design.
Optical performance is very good for a super-telephoto zoom. Sharpness is impressive throughout the range with the expected minor softening at 600mm wide open. OS stabilisation is highly effective, working in concert with body IBIS on compatible cameras. The HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) AF motor is fast and precise, a significant improvement over the DSLR version.
L-Mount, full-frame. Filter thread is 95mm. Weight is approximately 2,100 grams — heavy but expected for 600mm reach. Build quality is professional Sports-line quality with full weather sealing. A tripod collar with Arca-Swiss compatible foot is included. Compatible with Sigma 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for up to 1,200mm reach.
Limited used market availability as a newer lens. Check OS and AF operation. An excellent super-telephoto for L-Mount wildlife and sports shooters. The Panasonic and Leica alternatives are far more expensive. Teleconverter compatibility extends reach significantly. Also works on Sigma fp and Panasonic S-series bodies via L-Mount alliance.
