Sigma's updated 180mm macro — f/2.8 with OS stabilisation and APO correction for 1:1 at long working distance.

The Sigma 180mm f/2.8 EX APO DG Macro OS HSM is the updated version of Sigma's long macro, adding OS stabilisation to the 180mm f/3.5. The faster f/2.8 aperture and OS make this a significantly more versatile macro and portrait lens.

Optically excellent — sharp at macro distances with APO correction eliminating chromatic aberration. The 180mm focal length provides approximately 46cm working distance at 1:1 — ideal for photographing skittish subjects. OS provides 4 stops of stabilisation. HSM motor is fast and quiet.

Available for multiple DSLR mounts. 86mm filter thread — large. Approximately 1640g — very heavy. EX professional build. Tripod collar. Full-frame coverage. f/2.8 also makes it an excellent telephoto portrait lens.

Available used at professional prices. The f/2.8 aperture over the f/3.5 predecessor is significant — better for portraits and low-light macro. The weight is the main drawback. For macro photographers who need maximum working distance with a fast aperture and stabilisation.
