The Sigma 180mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO Macro is a fast macro prime from Sigma's EX professional line for Canon EF full-frame bodies, providing 1:1 macro capability at an unusually fast f/2.8 aperture and 180mm focal length. APO glass and HSM autofocus complete the premium specification.

The lens delivers 180mm at f/2.8 maximum aperture with 1:1 macro reproduction, APO apochromatic glass for colour accuracy at macro distances, HSM autofocus for fast operation, and DG full-frame coverage.

The 180mm macro focal length provides the most comfortable working distance of any standard macro length — the front element is very far from the subject at 1:1, eliminating the risk of disturbing live subjects or blocking light. The f/2.8 aperture is unusually fast for a macro prime, enabling portrait use alongside macro work.

Test HSM AF speed and accuracy at both macro and portrait distances. Check APO coating condition. Verify 1:1 macro accuracy. Inspect for zoom creep (this is a prime, but the focusing helicoid should hold position).
