Sigma's macro telephoto for Canon — the 180mm f/2.8 APO without OS stabilisation.
The Sigma 180mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO Macro for Canon EF is the non-OS version of Sigma's premium macro telephoto — same lens as ID 3535 without optical stabilisation. At 180mm f/2.8 with 1:1 macro, it provides excellent working distance and fast aperture. The APO designation ensures chromatic correction. HSM for quiet AF.
Outstanding macro optics — same optical design as the OS version without stabilisation. Sharpness excellent. APO elements eliminate CA. The 180mm working distance is invaluable for insect and skittish subject macro. The f/2.8 also makes it a superb portrait lens. HSM provides fast quiet AF. The lack of OS is the main limitation.
Canon EF mount. Filter thread 86mm — large. Weight approximately 1,640 grams — heavy. Build quality professional EX with weather sealing. The non-OS version is cheaper than the OS version but lacks stabilisation. Tripod recommended for macro. The 86mm filter thread adds filter cost.
Available at lower prices than the OS version. Check AF, clean APO elements. Same excellent optics as the OS version without stabilisation. Tripod-based macro work negates the OS need. The f/2.8 at 180mm macro is a premium specification. Best for photographers who primarily use a tripod for macro work.
