Sigma's native mirrorless Art 35mm — lighter than the DSLR version with dual linear motor AF and weather sealing.
The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is the native mirrorless redesign of Sigma's Art-series 35mm prime, released in 2021 as a ground-up optical reconstruction for the shorter flange distances of L-mount and Sony FE mounts — distinct from the DSLR-native DG HSM Art formula. A linear AF motor provides fast, quiet autofocus suited to continuous tracking on mirrorless bodies. At approximately 645g and 67mm filter thread it is lightweight for an f/1.4 full-frame prime. Available in L-mount and Sony FE versions.
The optical design uses 15 elements in 11 groups. Eleven rounded aperture blades produce smooth bokeh. The 67mm filter thread is standard for mid-aperture full-frame primes. At approximately 645g the lens is moderate for an f/1.4 prime. Minimum focus distance of 0.3m. A linear AF motor provides fast, quiet AF with full-time manual override. No optical stabilisation — the DG DN designation confirms mirrorless-native design. f/1.4 maximum aperture.
The DG DN redesign addresses the optical corrections that the DG HSM DSLR formula carried from a longer flange distance: the new formula is built around the RF/FE mount's short flange, enabling correction of field curvature and coma at f/1.4 without the retrofocus compromises of a DSLR-adapted optical path. Wide-open performance at f/1.4 across the full frame is the Art-series standard. For street photography, available-light documentary, and environmental portraiture on L-mount systems, the 35mm f/1.4 DG DN provides the reference fast wide-angle option.
On the used market the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is available at mid-range mirrorless prime pricing. Condition checks: linear AF motor response, front element for marks, aperture ring click consistency, and confirm the mount version — L-mount and Sony FE are distinct. The Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary provides a lighter alternative at f/2. Compatible with full-frame and APS-C bodies in the specified mount.
