Sigma's stabilised DX telephoto — the 50-150mm f/2.8 OS with constant fast aperture for APS-C.
The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX APO DC OS HSM is the OS-stabilised version of Sigma's unique APS-C constant f/2.8 telephoto zoom (non-OS version described under ID 3700). Adding optical stabilisation addresses the main weakness of the original. Covering 75-225mm equivalent with constant f/2.8 and OS, it is one of the most capable APS-C telephoto zooms ever made.
Optical performance is good with the constant f/2.8 providing consistent exposure and DOF throughout. OS stabilisation provides approximately 4 stops — essential for handheld telephoto work. APO elements with SLD glass control chromatic aberration. HSM motor provides fast, quiet AF. The OS addition makes this dramatically more practical than the non-OS version.
Nikon F mount, APS-C. Filter thread is 67mm. Weight is approximately 900 grams — heavier than the non-OS version. Build quality is solid EX professional grade. The OS + HSM combination provides the practical features needed for a professional APS-C telephoto zoom. Tripod collar available. The constant f/2.8 in a DX-optimised design is genuinely unique.
Available at reasonable used prices. Check OS motor and AF accuracy. The stabilised version addresses the main weakness of the original. The constant f/2.8 with OS in a DX telephoto zoom is a specification no other manufacturer matches. An outstanding sports and events lens for APS-C shooters.
