Sigma's compact Art-series portrait prime for MFT — 120mm equivalent at f/2.8 with linear AF motor.
The Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN Art is a native Micro Four Thirds prime from Sigma's original DN (Designed for Mirrorless) Art series, providing a 120mm full-frame equivalent perspective on MFT. Released in 2013 as part of the early DN Art line, it is a compact prime optimised for mirrorless bodies at a budget price. At 190g and 46mm filter thread it is one of the lightest 60mm-equivalent primes available for MFT. Available in MFT and Sony E mount versions.
The optical design uses 8 elements in 6 groups. Seven aperture blades produce rounded bokeh. The 46mm filter thread is a compact prime standard. At 190g the lens is lightweight. Minimum focus distance of 0.5m. A DC motor provides standard AF. No optical stabilisation. f/2.8 maximum aperture. The DN designation confirms native mirrorless design for MFT or Sony E mount.
The 120mm equivalent on MFT at f/2.8 covers medium telephoto portrait distances with background separation. On the MFT 2x crop factor, f/2.8 provides depth of field equivalent to approximately f/5.6 on full-frame — less shallow than full-frame primes but more selective than a standard zoom. The 0.5m MFD enables close-portrait framing without excessive working distance. At 190g the lens adds minimal weight for everyday carry on a compact MFT body.
On the used market the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN Art is very affordable as a lightweight MFT telephoto prime. Condition checks: DC motor AF response, front element for marks, and aperture blade condition. Confirm the MFT version is specified — a Sony E mount version is also available. The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary provides a similar focal length with wider aperture. Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds bodies from Panasonic, Olympus, and OM System.
