Sigma's ultra-compact full-frame mirrorless with L-Mount, the smallest FF body available.
The Sigma FP was released in October 2019 as the world's smallest full-frame mirrorless camera at launch, adopting the L-Mount alliance standard (Leica/Panasonic/Sigma) in a palm-sized boxy form factor designed for cinema rigging and compact travel photography. The FP has no electronic viewfinder, no mechanical shutter — the electronic shutter is the only option — and no in-body image stabilisation. The battery capacity is extremely limited at approximately 150 shots per charge; the FP is designed to operate on external USB power or a cage-mounted battery in production use.
The 24.6MP full-frame CMOS sensor pairs with the Dual True III processor. The electronic-only shutter operates without the mechanical limitations of a focal plane shutter but is susceptible to rolling shutter in fast-motion scenes. 4K/24p records internally in H.264; CinemaDNG RAW output is available via HDMI to an external recorder. No mechanical shutter, no EVF, no IBIS. Battery life approximately 150 shots using the BP-51, body weight approximately 370g with battery and card, single SD/SDHC/SDXC slot.
The FP's extreme compactness is its defining practical characteristic: as a full-frame L-Mount body that fits in a jacket pocket, it enables access to Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma L-mount lenses in the smallest possible package. For cinema production the boxy form factor integrates directly into cage rigs where the grip-style mirrorless design is inconvenient. The ~150-shot battery life requires external power — USB-C power delivery or a cage-mounted battery — for any sustained shooting session.
On the used market the Sigma FP is available at affordable full-frame L-Mount pricing. Condition checks: electronic shutter rolling shutter performance (test with fast-moving subjects), USB-C power delivery function — essential for extended use — SD slot contacts, and overall body condition. The Sigma FP L (2021) replaced the 24.6MP sensor with a 61MP version. Plan for external power from the start; the 150-shot battery alone is impractical for most sessions. Compatible with all L-Mount lenses from Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma.
