Sony's basic A-mount DSLR — the A200 entry-level with SteadyShot.
The Sony Alpha A200 is an entry-level APS-C DSLR from Sony's Alpha A-mount range, introduced in 2008 as an upgrade path for consumers from Sony's Cyber-shot compact cameras. It was Sony's most affordable APS-C DSLR at launch.
The A200 uses a 10.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, Minolta A-mount bayonet for full compatibility with all A-mount lenses, Sony's SteadyShot INSIDE in-body stabilisation, 3fps burst, 9-point AF, and a 2.7-inch LCD.
In-body SteadyShot stabilisation means any A-mount lens — including older Minolta lenses — benefits from stabilisation on the A200. The Minolta A-mount compatibility is the main asset, giving access to both Sony's own Alpha lenses and the extensive vintage Minolta Dynax/Maxxum lens range.
Test in-body SteadyShot operation. Verify A-mount lens coupling and autofocus with a compatible lens. Check 9-point AF accuracy. Inspect the LCD and viewfinder. Check shutter count.
