Sony's basic A-mount DSLR — the A330 with tilting LCD and SteadyShot.
The Sony A330 is a basic APS-C DSLR from 2009 with a 10.2MP CCD sensor and SteadyShot INSIDE body stabilisation. Very similar to the A230 and A380, it occupies the entry level of Sony's A-mount range. The tilting LCD provides flexible composition angles. SteadyShot stabilises any A-mount lens — the key practical advantage.
Image quality from the 10.2MP CCD is adequate for basic use with pleasant CCD colour. SteadyShot works with every A-mount lens including vintage manual focus glass. The tilting LCD was unusual at entry-level in 2009. 7-point AF system. No video. Optical viewfinder with pentamirror. A basic camera for learning photography.
Sony A mount. Weight is approximately 490 grams. Build quality is entry-level consumer. The CCD sensor provides warm colour rendition. The SteadyShot stabilisation is genuinely useful with adapted and manual focus lenses. A-mount discontinued. CompactFlash and Memory Stick storage.
Very cheap on the used market. Check sensor and shutter. Thoroughly outdated. The SteadyShot stabilisation with any lens is the only notable feature. Only of interest at extremely low prices. Modern entry mirrorless cameras are dramatically superior.
