Sony's budget SLT camera — 16.1MP APS-C with translucent mirror technology at entry-level pricing.
The Sony A37 (SLT-A37) launched in 2012 as Sony's most affordable SLT (Single Lens Translucent) camera. It used a fixed translucent mirror to enable continuous phase-detect AF during both stills and video — bringing SLT technology to the entry level.
The 16.1MP APS-C sensor delivers decent image quality. The SLT mirror enables 7fps continuous shooting with continuous AF — fast for an entry-level camera. 15-point AF with 3 cross-type sensors. Full HD 1080i video with continuous AF.
Compact body at 506g. 2.7-inch tilting LCD. Built-in EVF at 1.44M dots — small but functional. In-body SteadyShot. Built-in flash. A-mount lens system. Single SD card slot.
Available used very cheaply. A-mount is discontinued — severely limits future lens investment. The SLT mirror costs 1/3 stop of light. Any modern mirrorless camera is significantly better. Only useful for existing A-mount lens owners wanting a very cheap body.
