Sony's compact APS-C with touch and hybrid AF — A5000 successor with improved focusing.
The Sony A5100 launched in 2014 as an update to the A5000, adding hybrid AF with 179-point phase-detect — the same AF system from the A6000 — in the smallest possible APS-C E-mount body.
The 24.3MP APS-C sensor delivers good image quality — same sensor as A6000. 179-point hybrid AF with phase-detect — a massive upgrade over the A5000's contrast-detect. 6fps burst. Full HD 1080p video. Touch AF.
Ultra-compact body at 283g — one of the smallest APS-C cameras. 3-inch tilting touchscreen for selfies. No EVF — screen only. WiFi and NFC. Built-in flash. Sony E mount. Single SD card slot.
Available used very cheaply. The A6000 is better value with EVF for similar price. The 179-point AF was the key upgrade over A5000. For ultra-compact APS-C needs where size matters most. Check firmware.
