The Sony Alpha A700 (2007) is a 12.24MP APS-C DSLR positioned as a semi-professional body in Sony's first Alpha generation. Built on the Konica Minolta Dynax 9D platform, it offered 5fps, robust build quality, and in-body Super SteadyShot IS — competing with the Canon 40D and Nikon D300.

12.24MP APS-C Exmor CMOS, Sony A-mount, 5fps burst, 11-point AF (including 3 cross-type), Super SteadyShot sensor-shift IS, top shutter speed 1/8000s, CF card, magnesium alloy body with weather sealing.

The A700's weather-sealed magnesium body and 1/8000s shutter speed positioned it as a serious enthusiast/semi-pro tool. Super SteadyShot IS works with all A-mount lenses regardless of whether the lens has optical stabilisation. Compatible with the full Minolta Dynax AF and Sony A-mount lens ecosystem. The A700 was not superseded by a direct successor until much later in the A99 generation.
