Sony's enthusiast SLT camera — 24.3MP APS-C with translucent mirror, 12fps burst, and 3-way tilt LCD.
The Sony A77 (SLT-A77) launched in 2011 as Sony's enthusiast APS-C flagship using Translucent Mirror Technology. The 24.3MP sensor was the highest resolution APS-C at the time, combined with 12fps burst shooting and comprehensive weather sealing.
The 24.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor delivers excellent detail. The SLT mirror enables 12fps continuous shooting with continuous phase-detect AF — extraordinary burst performance. 19-point AF system with 11 cross-type points. 1080p 60p video with continuous AF.
Weather-sealed magnesium alloy body at 653g. 3-inch 3-way tilting LCD. Built-in OLED EVF at 2.36M dots — impressive for 2011. Dual card slots — MS/SD. In-body SteadyShot. GPS built in. A-mount lens system.
Available used very cheaply. The A77 II improved AF significantly. A-mount is discontinued but the 12fps burst and weather sealing were remarkable. The SLT mirror costs ~1/3 stop of light. Check for EVF burn-in on used units. A capable camera for A-mount lens users.
