Sony's premium full-frame compact — 24.3MP with Carl Zeiss 35mm f/2, no low-pass filter variant.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R was released in 2013 as the optical low-pass-filter-removed variant of the RX1, featuring a 24.3MP full-frame sensor and a fixed Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 lens. 1080p/60fps video. At 482g with battery. 0.30m MFD standard AF; 0.20-0.35m in macro mode.
24.3MP full-frame CMOS (35.8×23.8mm). Fixed Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 lens. 1080p/60fps; 720p/120fps. 0.30m MFD (AF standard); 0.20-0.35m (macro mode). 482g with battery. No interchangeable mount — fixed 35mm f/2 Zeiss lens. Optical low-pass filter removed (RX1R — versus original RX1 which has OLPF).
The RX1R differs from the original RX1 only in OLPF removal: without the optical low-pass filter, the sensor resolves finer detail at the cost of slightly increased moiré risk in fine repetitive patterns such as fabric textures. The Sonnar 35mm f/2 provides Zeiss T* coating for flare and ghost resistance. The compact full-frame fixed-lens form factor was unique at launch.
On the used market the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R is affordable as a vintage full-frame fixed-lens compact. Condition checks: lens element for marks, 35mm f/2 AF function, NP-BX1 battery health. Fixed Zeiss 35mm f/2; no interchangeable mount. No OLPF.
