Sony's ultra-wide APS-C prime — 16.5mm equiv at f/1.8 for vlogging and wide-angle content.
The Sony E 11mm f/1.8 launched in 2022 as an ultra-wide prime for Sony APS-C E-mount, providing 16.5mm equivalent at f/1.8 — designed for vlogging, astrophotography, and ultra-wide creative work on A6000-series cameras.
Optically good — sharp from f/2.8 with the fast f/1.8 useful for astrophotography on APS-C. The 16.5mm equivalent is ultra-wide — ideal for vlogging at arm's length where maximum field of view is needed. Stepping motor AF — fast and quiet.
Sony E mount with 55mm filter thread. Just 181g — very compact. APS-C coverage. Minimum focus distance 12cm — impressive for close-up environmental work. No weather sealing. No image stabilisation.
Available used at mid-range prices. The widest fast prime for Sony APS-C — the Samyang AF 12mm f/2 is similar in concept but manual focus. The 16.5mm equiv at f/1.8 is excellent for vlogging — wider than the 16-50mm kit at 16mm. For APS-C vloggers and astro shooters.
