Sony's APS-C superzoom with OSS covering 27-300mm equivalent for E-mount.
The Sony E 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS is Sony's APS-C superzoom for E-mount, launched in 2010. Covering a versatile 27-300mm equivalent range with OSS, it provides maximum zoom versatility for NEX and A6000-series cameras in a single lens.
Optical quality follows typical superzoom patterns with good centre sharpness at moderate focal lengths and softening at extremes. OSS provides stabilisation. At 524g it is heavy for an APS-C system but covers an extreme range.
Sony E mount in APS-C format, 67mm filter thread. The Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 offers even more range. The Sony 18-135mm provides a better balance of range and quality. Superzooms always trade optical quality for convenience.
Moderate value used. Check OSS and AF motor. The lens is justified when carrying one lens is essential. For better quality the 18-135mm covers most of the range with fewer compromises.
