Sony's G-series APS-C telephoto zoom with 525mm equivalent reach and optical stabilisation.
The Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS launched in 2019 as Sony's G-series telephoto for APS-C E-mount. Covering an impressive 105-525mm equivalent range with OSS and weather sealing, it provides serious telephoto reach for A6000-series shooters interested in wildlife and sports.
Optical quality is very good for a consumer telephoto with sharp results at shorter focal lengths and acceptable performance at 350mm. OSS provides optical stabilisation essential at long focal lengths. Linear motor AF is fast and quiet for both stills and video. Build is weather sealed with a 67mm filter thread.
Sony E mount in APS-C format, 67mm filter thread. This replaced the E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS as Sony's primary APS-C telephoto. The Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD is a full-frame alternative that works on APS-C. The Sony 70-350mm G is the better native APS-C option.
Good value used. Check OSS operation, AF speed at 350mm, and weather seal integrity. The G-series quality and weather sealing justify the premium over the older E 55-210mm. Excellent for APS-C wildlife photography.
