Eleven rounded aperture blades. XD linear motor provides fast, precise AF. The G designation indicates Sony's second-highest optical quality tier. The 0.19m MFD throughout enables close-up work across the zoom range.

The optical design uses 16 elements in 13 groups. Eleven rounded aperture blades produce circular bokeh. The 67mm filter thread is standard for mid-weight full-frame primes and zooms.
