The Sony FE 28mm f/2 (SEL28F20) was released in 2015 as a compact full-frame wide prime for Sony FE-mount. Nine elements in 8 groups. Nine rounded aperture blades. 49mm filter thread. At 200g it is very lightweight for a full-frame prime. 0.29m MFD in AF mode. Linear motor autofocus. No OSS.

The optical design uses 9 elements in 8 groups (3 aspherical including 1 advanced aspherical + 2 ED elements). Nine rounded aperture blades. The 49mm filter thread. At 200g the lens is very lightweight. Minimum focus distance of 0.29m (AF mode) / 0.25m (manual focus mode). Linear motor AF. No OSS. f/2 maximum aperture. Full-frame coverage.

The 200g / 49mm profile makes the FE 28mm f/2 one of the most compact full-frame E-mount wide primes. The 28mm perspective provides a wider field of view than the 35mm alternatives while remaining less extreme than 24mm — a practical environmental wide for travel and street photography. The no-OSS design assumes camera IBIS (A7 II-onward) will provide stabilisation.

On the used market the Sony FE 28mm f/2 is affordable as a compact full-frame wide prime. Condition checks: linear AF response, 49mm front element for marks. No OSS. Compatible with all Sony FE-mount full-frame bodies; usable on APS-C E-mount at approximately 42mm equivalent.
