The Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS (SEL70300G) is a telephoto zoom for Sony FE full-frame bodies, covering 70-300mm with optical SteadyShot (OSS) in the lens barrel. G-series designation — not G Master. At 854g and 72mm filter thread it is moderate for a 300mm full-frame zoom. The optical formula uses 4 aspherical and 2 ED elements for aberration control at telephoto focal lengths.

The optical design uses 16 elements in 13 groups including 4 aspherical and 2 ED elements. Nine circular aperture blades. The 72mm filter thread. At 854g the lens is moderate. Minimum focus distance of 0.90m (maximum magnification 0.31x). OSS optical stabilisation — approximately 3 stops in practice (reviewer-measured; Sony does not publish an official stop figure). Direct Drive SSM autofocus. Variable aperture from f/4.5 at 70mm to f/5.6 at 300mm.
