Sony's enthusiast APS-C mirrorless with OLED EVF — 24.3MP with magnesium body and hot shoe.
The Sony NEX-7 was released in 2011 as the flagship APS-C mirrorless for Sony E-mount, featuring a 24.3MP Exmor APS CMOS sensor — the highest-resolution APS-C sensor in a mirrorless at launch. 1080/60p AVCHD. No IBIS. NP-FW50 battery. At 350g with battery and card.
24.3MP APS-C Exmor APS HD CMOS (23.4×15.6mm). 1080p/60fps AVCHD; 1080p/24fps. No IBIS — no in-body stabilisation. NP-FW50 battery. 350g with battery and card (291g body only). Sony E APS-C mount. 3-inch 921K-dot LCD.
The NEX-7's 24.3MP sensor was the defining specification at launch: at 24MP, the NEX-7 offered more resolution than most contemporaneous DSLRs in an APS-C mirrorless form factor. The absence of IBIS was a notable trade — E-mount bodies gained IBIS only with the A6500 (2016). The NEX-7 uses the original E-mount APS-C standard; full-frame FE lenses fit but apply a crop.
On the used market the Sony NEX-7 is affordable as a vintage Sony E mirrorless. Condition checks: NP-FW50 battery health, LCD condition. No IBIS. Compatible with all Sony E-mount APS-C and FE lenses (FE lenses apply 1.5× crop).
