Sony's wide-angle vlogging compact with 1-inch sensor and 18mm starting point — wider than the original ZV-1.

The Sony ZV-1 II was released in May 2023 as the successor to the ZV-1, replacing the original's 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 zoom with an 18-50mm f/1.8-4.0 Zeiss equivalent — providing a wider 18mm start that the original lacked, and adding a built-in variable 3-stop ND filter for exposure control in bright conditions. The 1-inch stacked Exmor RS sensor is retained. At 292g the ZV-1 II is slightly lighter than the original.

The 20.1MP 1-inch stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor provides 4K at up to 30fps and 1080p at up to 120fps. The fixed 18-50mm f/1.8-4.0 Zeiss equivalent covers wide environmental through standard portrait perspective. The built-in variable 3-stop ND filter enables proper shutter speed in bright outdoor conditions without exposure compromise. Real-time Eye AF and Product Showcase AF are carried over from the ZV-1. Battery life approximately 290 shots using the NP-BX1, body weight approximately 292g with battery and card.

The 18mm wide-end is the ZV-1 II's primary practical improvement over the ZV-1: the wider angle enables environmental context in self-facing vlogging shots and more natural-looking room presence for stationary content recording.
