Tamron's budget full-frame ultra-wide — 17-35mm at f/2.8-4 with compact OSD motor design.
The Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD launched in 2018 as one of the most affordable full-frame ultra-wide zooms. Starting at f/2.8 wide and narrowing to f/4, it provided budget ultra-wide coverage with OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) motor.
Optically good for the price — sharp in the centre with f/2.8 at 17mm useful for low light. The variable aperture narrows to f/4 at 35mm. OSD motor is quiet. Compact and lightweight for a full-frame ultra-wide zoom.
Available for Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. 77mm filter thread — accepts standard filters. Approximately 460g — compact and light. No weather sealing. Moisture-resistant. Minimum focus distance 28cm.
Available used at budget prices. The 77mm filter thread accepting standard filters is practical for landscape ND use. The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD for mirrorless is the successor concept. For budget full-frame ultra-wide on DSLR.
