Tamron's superzoom for Canon EF-M — the 18-200mm Di III VC for Canon M-series mirrorless.
The Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC is a superzoom for Canon EF-M mount, one of very few third-party lenses made for Canon's discontinued M-mount mirrorless system. Covering a 29-320mm equivalent range with VC stabilisation, it provides one-lens travel convenience for Canon M50, M6 II, and other M-series camera owners.
Optical performance is typical of superzooms. Centre sharpness is acceptable at moderate focal lengths. VC stabilisation is effective at longer focal lengths. The Di III designation confirms this was designed for mirrorless from the ground up. The 11x zoom range provides enormous versatility at the expected cost of optical perfection at extremes.
Canon EF-M mount — note this mount system is discontinued. Filter thread is 62mm. Weight is approximately 460 grams — moderate for the range. Build quality is functional. VC stabilisation supplements the M-series cameras' digital IS for improved handheld shooting. One of the only superzoom options native to the EF-M mount.
Available on the used market. Check VC and AF operation. One of very few native EF-M superzooms — Canon never made their own 18-200mm for M-mount. The discontinued EF-M system limits future utility. Adequate for travel convenience on M-series cameras. The Canon EF-M system has no future — Canon moved to RF mount.
