The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 was released in 2020 as part of Tamron's compact prime series for Sony FE full-frame bodies, combining a 24mm wide-angle perspective with f/2.8 maximum aperture and an unusually close 0.12m minimum focus distance enabling 1:2 (0.5x) magnification — halfway between standard close focus and 1:1 macro. 'OSD' indicates Optimised Silent Drive stepper motor for quiet video AF. At 215g and 67mm filter thread it is very compact for a full-frame wide prime.

The optical design uses 10 elements in 9 groups. Seven circular aperture blades. The 67mm filter thread is standard for Sony FE wide primes. At 215g the lens is very lightweight.
