Tamron's compact 35mm f/2.8 for Sony FE — tiny prime with 1:2 macro capability in the trio series.
The Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 launched in 2019 as part of Tamron's compact prime trio for Sony FE mount alongside the 20mm and 24mm f/2.8 versions. It offers a 35mm perspective with 1:2 half-macro capability in an incredibly small package.
Optically good — sharp from f/4 across the frame with decent performance at f/2.8. The 1:2 macro capability at 15cm is genuinely versatile — close enough for product shots and flowers. OSD (Optimised Silent Drive) motor is quiet and fast.
Sony FE mount with 67mm filter thread. Weighs just 210g — remarkably compact. Moisture-resistant construction. Minimum focus distance 15cm at 1:2. 7 rounded aperture blades. Part of a matched trio with 20mm and 24mm f/2.8.
Available used at budget prices — excellent value. The Sony 35mm f/1.8 is sharper and faster but larger. The trio concept allows collecting all three wide primes for the price of one premium lens. A fun and versatile everyday wide-angle for Sony full-frame shooters.
