Tamron's APS-C superzoom with VC and PZD — 27-405mm equiv in compact design.
The Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.6-6.3 Di II VC PZD is a compact APS-C superzoom with VC stabilisation and PZD (Piezoelectric Drive) motor. Covering 27-405mm equivalent, it provided one-lens travel convenience with stabilisation.
Optically acceptable for a superzoom — sharp at mid-focal lengths with the inevitable softness at extremes. VC provides approximately 4 stops. PZD motor offers quieter focusing than traditional motors. The 15x zoom ratio covers a wide range.
Available for Canon EF-S and Nikon F mounts. 62mm filter thread. Approximately 450g — compact for 15x zoom. No weather sealing. VC stabilisation. PZD motor. APS-C coverage only.
Available used very cheaply. The Tamron 18-400mm extended range further. The 18-300mm Di III for mirrorless is the modern successor. A practical budget travel zoom for APS-C DSLRs. Check for smooth zoom operation.
