The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD (model F045) was released in 2019 as Tamron's premium full-frame 35mm normal prime, applying the SP (Super Performance) optical standard to the wide-normal focal length with f/1.4 maximum aperture. USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) provides fast, quiet AF. At 815g it is heavier than most 35mm f/1.4 alternatives — the weight reflects the optical formula targeting maximum aberration correction at f/1.4 rather than minimum size. Available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts.

The optical design uses 14 elements in 10 groups. Nine circular aperture blades produce smooth bokeh. The 72mm filter thread is standard for a premium large-aperture prime. At 815g the Canon version is among the heaviest 35mm f/1.4 primes available. Minimum focus distance of 0.30m. USD provides fast, quiet AF with full-time manual focus override. No optical stabilisation. f/1.4 maximum aperture. Canon EF version weighs 815g; Nikon F version weighs 805g.

The SP optical design at 35mm f/1.4 prioritises wide-open performance: the F045's design brief was maximum image quality at f/1.4 across the full frame, at the cost of weight.
