Tamron's SP 35mm f/1.8 with VC — stabilised fast wide prime for DSLR with excellent optics.
The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD launched in 2015 as a premium 35mm prime with a unique feature — VC image stabilisation. Very few fast primes offer stabilisation, making this a standout for handheld low-light work at 35mm.
Optically excellent — sharp from f/2 with very good performance at f/1.8. VC provides approximately 4 stops of stabilisation — a genuine advantage for handheld shooting. USD motor is fast and quiet. eBAND coating for flare control. The SP designation indicates Tamron's premium tier.
Available for Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. 67mm filter thread. Approximately 480g. Moisture-resistant construction. Minimum focus distance 20cm — impressive close-up capability. TAP-in Console compatible for AF fine-tuning.
Available used at mid-range prices. The VC stabilisation sets this apart from competing 35mm f/1.4 lenses — the stabilisation compensates for the slightly slower aperture. The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art is sharper but has no stabilisation. Outstanding value for a stabilised fast 35mm.
