A fast prime macro lens designed for APS-C DSLR cameras.
The Tamron SP AF 60mm f/2 Di II LD (IF) Macro is a fast macro prime for APS-C DSLRs, providing a 90mm full-frame equivalent perspective with a fast f/2 aperture and true 1:1 macro capability. Di II indicates APS-C image circle; LD = Low Dispersion; IF = Internal Focus. The f/2 maximum aperture is unusual for a macro lens.
60mm focal length (90mm full-frame equivalent on APS-C), f/2 maximum aperture, 1:1 macro capability, Di II (APS-C image circle), LD/IF formula, Canon EF-S compatible mount.
The fast f/2 aperture on a macro lens is the primary differentiator — it provides very shallow depth of field for selective-focus portrait work alongside full macro capability. At 1:1 macro the effective aperture narrows to approximately f/4, which is typical for macro lenses. The combination of fast portrait prime and true macro in a single Di II lens is versatile for APS-C Canon shooters.
Test both macro (1:1) and portrait-distance focus. Confirm IF mechanism keeps front element stationary during focus. Inspect for fungus, haze, and coating condition. Check EF-S mount engagement on Canon APS-C bodies. Test aperture blades — f/2 lenses require particularly clean blades.
