Tokina's compact fast prime for Fujifilm X — 35mm equivalent at f/1.4 with smooth focus ring.
The Tokina atx-m 23mm f/1.4 launched in 2021 as part of Tokina's atx-m mirrorless prime range for Fujifilm X-mount. It provides a classic 35mm equivalent perspective with a fast f/1.4 aperture for low-light shooting and subject separation.
Optically good — sharp from f/2 with pleasant bokeh rendering at f/1.4. Some minor vignetting wide open which clears by f/2. The smooth focus-by-wire ring works well for video. Autofocus is stepping motor based — quiet and reasonably fast.
Fujifilm X mount with 52mm filter thread. Weighs 263g — compact for an f/1.4 lens. No weather sealing. Minimum focus distance 30cm. 9 rounded aperture blades for smooth bokeh. Metal mount with composite barrel. No aperture ring — body-controlled.
Growing used availability. Competes directly with the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R which offers weather resistance and an aperture ring. Also available in Sony E-mount. A good budget alternative to the Fujifilm native option for shooters who prioritise value.
