TTArtisan's autofocus 75mm portrait prime for Sony FE — surprisingly capable for the price.
The TTArtisan AF 75mm f/2 ED is a relatively recent autofocus prime from the Chinese manufacturer TTArtisan, marking their move beyond fully manual lenses. Designed for Sony FE mount, it provides a classic short telephoto portrait focal length with a reasonably fast f/2 aperture at a very competitive price point.
Optical performance is good for the price bracket. Sharpness is respectable in the centre from f/2, becoming very good by f/2.8. The ED element helps control chromatic aberration. Bokeh is smooth and pleasant for portrait work. Autofocus is functional but not as fast or reliable as native Sony or Sigma alternatives — adequate for portraits and still subjects.
Sony FE mount with full electronic communication including EXIF data and eye AF support. Filter thread is 58mm. Weight is approximately 430 grams. Build quality is decent with a metal barrel. No weather sealing and no image stabilisation — rely on Sony's in-body stabilisation. The AF motor is audible during focus acquisition.
Limited but growing availability on the used market as a newer lens. Check AF accuracy and consistency. An interesting option for Sony shooters wanting a dedicated portrait lens on a tight budget. The Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 and Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art are the obvious upgrades for those willing to spend more.
