Viltrox's fast portrait prime for Fujifilm X, offering f/1.2 at a fraction of first-party prices.
The Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Pro is a fast portrait prime available for multiple mirrorless mounts, launched in 2022. Providing a 112mm equivalent on APS-C at f/1.2, it delivers extremely shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh at a fraction of the cost of first-party f/1.2 primes.
Optical quality is good for the price with acceptable wide-open sharpness improving significantly by f/2. Bokeh is smooth and pleasing from the large aperture. Autofocus via a stepping motor is adequate for portraits but can hunt in low light. Build is solid metal but without weather sealing.
Available in Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, and Sony E mounts. Filter thread is 77mm. On Fujifilm X it competes with the XF 56mm f/1.2 R which offers a wider aperture optically but at a shorter focal length. The 75mm provides more telephoto compression.
Good value used. Check AF accuracy wide open as calibration is important at f/1.2. Test bokeh quality and sharpness across the frame. The lens offers remarkable value for the f/1.2 aperture. Not a clinical performer but delivers beautiful portrait rendering.
