The Vivitar ViviCam 3826 is an early-2000s fixed-lens digital compact from Vivitar's ViviCam range, sold before Sakar International's 2008 acquisition of the brand as a step-up model with a genuine optical zoom lens.
The manual confirms a 4.0-megapixel CCD sensor measuring 1/1.8 inch, a 3x optical zoom with additional 4x digital zoom in capture and 6x in playback, a 1.5-inch colour TFT LCD, 16MB of internal memory (14MB usable) expandable via SD card, and power from two AA batteries, a CR-V3 pack, or AC adapter.
The real optical zoom and larger 1/1.8-inch sensor set the 3826 apart from cheaper fixed-focal ViviCam models, giving it more genuine framing flexibility than the digital-zoom-only compacts that followed under Sakar.
Secondhand 3826 units are inexpensive and occasionally turn up complete with box and accessories. Check the small LCD for scratches or dead pixels, test the zoom mechanism for smoothness, and confirm the battery compartment is corrosion-free.
