Voigtlander's original M-mount ultra-wide — 15mm f/4.5 Heliar in earlier version before Mark III.
The Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Super Wide-Heliar is an earlier version of the 15mm ultra-wide for Leica M-mount or L39 — predating the Mark III updates (IDs 690/1728/1737). One of the first affordable ultra-wides for the M system.
Optically good for its era — the 15mm provides dramatic ultra-wide coverage. The earlier version may have less optimised edge performance on digital sensors than the Mark III. Filter thread capability at 15mm is the standout practical feature.
Various mount versions. Filter thread accepts standard screw-on filters at 15mm. Compact and lightweight. Manual focus. The original Super Wide-Heliar established Voigtlander's 15mm as an M-system staple.
Available used very cheaply — earlier versions are less expensive than the Mark III. For budget ultra-wide M-mount use. Check edge performance on digital — the Mark III improved this. See IDs 690/1728/1737 for later versions.
