Voigtlander's ultra-fast manual-focus 40mm for Nikon Z — f/1.2 with electronic contacts and stunning bokeh.

The Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Z was released in 2022 as a manual-focus fast normal prime for Nikon Z-mount. Electronic contacts provide EXIF data and aperture control, but there is no autofocus motor — the lens is manual focus only. Eight elements in 6 groups with 2 double-sided aspherical elements. Ten aperture blades. 58mm filter thread. At 351g. 0.30m MFD.

The f/1.2 maximum aperture at 40mm provides approximately 1.5 stops more light than f/1.8 alternatives and the shallowest depth of field achievable in the normal focal range for Nikon Z. The ten-blade aperture produces smooth circular out-of-focus highlights. Electronic contacts enable in-body IBIS cooperation on Z bodies with IBIS, providing stabilised manual focus shooting.
