Voigtlander's fast modern wide — the Cosina-made Ultron 28mm f/1.9 in Leica Thread Mount.
The Ultron 28mm f/1.9 is a modern Cosina-made Voigtlander wide-angle, released in 2001 as one of the faster wides in the Bessa screw-mount line. It is a contemporary manual-focus lens in Leica Thread Mount rather than a vintage optic, and was among the brighter 28mm rangefinder options of its day.
It is a manual-focus rangefinder-coupled lens with a 28mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.9, faster than most compact 28mm designs. The larger aperture makes it a low-light-capable moderate wide, while the barrel remains reasonably compact for a lens of this speed.
The f/1.9 aperture lets it work in dim interiors and at night while keeping a useful 28mm field for street and documentary framing. Wide open it gives a shallow-for-a-wide look with gentle falloff; stopped down it tightens up for general use, making it a flexible single-lens choice for travel.
As a newer Cosina-Voigtlander lens, used examples are usually clean and mechanically sound and are found without much difficulty; check for smooth focus, clear glass and a crisp aperture rather than age faults. It fits Leica M bodies with an LTM adapter and adapts easily to mirrorless cameras for low-light and everyday shooting.
