Voigtländer's aperture-priority QBM SLR — the VSL 3-E, electronic, 1980.
The Voigtlander VSL 3-E was a 35mm film SLR made from 1980 under the Voigtländer name within the Rollei group. It used the Rollei QBM mount and was the electronic, automatic-exposure model in the VSL line, related to Rollei's own electronic SL35 bodies.
It is a single-lens-reflex camera for 35mm film on the Rollei QBM mount. The VSL 3-E offered aperture-priority automatic exposure alongside manual, with TTL metering and an electronically controlled focal-plane shutter. Because timing and automation are electronic, the body depends on a working battery to fire.
It suits users who want aperture-priority automation in a QBM-mount body with access to the system's Zeiss- and Rollei-designed lenses. The automation makes it convenient for travel and general work, while manual mode remains available for full control.
On the used market the VSL 3-E is uncommon and QBM lenses are less common than mainstream mounts. Check the foam seals and mirror-damper foam, confirm the electronic shutter and meter both work with a good battery, and remember the body will not fire without power. Inspect the prism for desilvering, check advance and rewind, and note that electronic QBM bodies can be harder to repair and specialists are few.
