The Yashica ML 50mm f/1.4 was the fast standard prime of Yashica's ML line for the Contax/Yashica mount, sharing the C/Y bayonet with Contax Zeiss lenses. It gave budget-minded shooters a fast native fifty for the mount.
This is a manual-focus C/Y-mount lens with a 50mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.4. It fits the same bodies as Contax Zeiss glass and belongs to Yashica's better-coated ML series. Additional figures are omitted where they cannot be verified.
As a fast 50mm it covers portraits, street, low-light and everyday shooting with a natural field of view and shallow depth of field wide open. It is a practical, affordable standard lens for C/Y bodies.
