Zeiss's Contax moderate wide — the Distagon T* 25mm f/2.8, manual-focus glass for the C/Y mount.
The Zeiss Distagon T* 25mm f/2.8 was a wide-angle prime for the Contax/Yashica mount, part of the original Contax SLR system introduced in the mid-1970s. It served as a popular moderate-wide choice in the Distagon line.
This is a manual-focus C/Y-mount lens with a 25mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The retrofocus Distagon layout provided rectilinear coverage with controlled distortion. Other optical details are omitted where they cannot be confirmed.
At 25mm the lens offers a versatile wide view for landscape, travel, architecture and street use, wide enough for context yet natural in perspective. It was known for good contrast and colour thanks to the T* coating.
Used examples appear regularly and remain a practical entry into Contax Zeiss glass. Inspect for internal haze, fungus and coating marks, check that focus is smooth and the aperture blades are oil-free, and confirm the front element is unblemished. It adapts readily to mirrorless with a C/Y adapter.
