Fujifilm's updated rangefinder-style X-E series — 16.3MP X-Trans II with improved AF and classic styling.
The Fujifilm X-E2S launched in 2016 as a minor refresh of the X-E2, featuring the same 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor with updated firmware-level improvements and a revised grip. It maintained the compact rangefinder styling that defines the X-E line.
Image quality is good — the 16.3MP X-Trans II sensor produces clean images with Fujifilm's colour science and film simulation modes. 77-point hybrid AF system with improved performance over the X-E2. 7fps burst shooting. Good low-light performance to ISO 3200.
Compact body at 350g. 3-inch fixed LCD. Built-in EVF at 2.36M dots. No built-in flash — hot shoe only. WiFi. Single SD card slot. 1080p 60fps video. USB 2.0 charging. X-mount lens compatibility.
Available used very cheaply. The X-E2S is effectively an X-E2 with firmware improvements and a better grip — many users simply update X-E2 firmware instead. The X-E3 is a meaningful upgrade with X-Trans III. A budget entry to the X-mount system with classic Fuji styling.
