Fujifilm's rangefinder-style APS-C with 16.3MP X-Trans II sensor — compact and capable street camera.
The Fujifilm X-E2 launched in 2013 as an update to the X-E1, featuring the 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor with on-chip phase-detect AF. It improved AF speed significantly while maintaining the compact rangefinder styling that defines the X-E line.
Image quality is excellent — the 16.3MP X-Trans II sensor produces outstanding colour with Fujifilm's film simulation modes. 49-point hybrid AF system — a major improvement over the X-E1. 7fps burst. Good high-ISO performance to ISO 3200. RAW and JPEG both excellent.
Compact body at 350g. 3-inch fixed LCD at 1.04M dots. Built-in EVF at 2.36M dots. Built-in flash — removed in X-E3 and X-E4. WiFi. Single SD card slot. USB 2.0. 1080p 60fps video. X-mount lens compatibility.
Available used very cheaply — outstanding value for X-Trans II quality. The X-E2S is a firmware-level update of the same camera. The X-E3 upgraded to X-Trans III. A superb budget entry to the Fujifilm X system with classic rangefinder aesthetics.
