Fujifilm's high-resolution flagship with 40MP APS-C sensor and 8K video capability.
The Fujifilm X-H2 was launched in 2022 as Fujifilm's resolution-focused flagship, complementing the speed-focused X-H2S. With a 40.2MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, it offers the highest resolution in the APS-C format and rivals many full-frame cameras for detail. It targets landscape, studio, and commercial photographers.
Key features include the 40MP sensor, 8K 30fps video, 5-axis IBIS with up to 7 stops of stabilisation, subject-detect AF, and a deep grip with extensive physical controls. The large 5.76M-dot EVF is excellent. Dual card slots use CFexpress Type B and SD. The body is weather-sealed and built to professional standards.
The X-H2 is praised for resolving power that exceeds many full-frame sensors, Fujifilm's film simulation modes, and the combination of stills and video capability. It is criticised for the large file sizes, higher noise at high ISO compared to the lower-resolution X-H2S, and the premium price for an APS-C body.
Used prices reflect its flagship positioning. Check shutter count, verify IBIS operation, test 8K recording for overheating limits, and inspect the CFexpress card slot. The X-H2S is the better choice for action and sports; the X-H2 is for resolution-critical work.
