Fujifilm's original rangefinder-style mirrorless, the camera that launched the X-mount system.
The Fujifilm X-Pro1 was released in January 2012 as the founding camera of the Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless system, introducing both the X-Trans CMOS sensor design and the X-mount interchangeable lens standard. The first-generation X-Trans colour filter array eliminated the optical low-pass filter by arranging photosites in a pattern that inherently resists moiré without an anti-aliasing layer. The hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder — the defining X-Pro design feature — provides both a true optical rangefinder-style view and a full electronic display mode.
The 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS I sensor uses Fujifilm's first-generation X-Trans pattern without an optical low-pass filter. Autofocus uses contrast-detection across 49 selectable points. Burst shooting runs at 6fps. Video records at 1080p and 24fps only — no 30fps option and limited video capability overall. The hybrid OVF/EVF switches between optical framing with electronic overlay and a full EVF mode. Battery life approximately 300 shots using the NP-W126, body weight approximately 450g with battery and card, single SD/SDHC/SDXC slot.
The X-Trans CMOS I sensor's lack of OLPF provides fine-detail resolution advantages over OLPF-equipped sensors at equivalent megapixels — at the cost of the complex demosaicing that Fujifilm's X-Trans raw processing requires. The hybrid OVF is the X-Pro series' defining workflow characteristic: the optical view provides the parallax-free framing and natural eye positioning of a rangefinder-style camera, while the EVF overlay provides live exposure preview and shooting data. The contrast-detect AF is reliable for static subjects.
On the used market the X-Pro1 is very affordable as the founding X-mount camera. Condition checks: hybrid OVF/EVF switching mechanism (a complex optical-mechanical design that can develop issues), NP-W126 battery health — shared across the X-T1, X-E1, X-E2 generation — and overall body condition. The X-Pro2 (2016) updated to a 24.3MP X-Trans III sensor with phase-detection AF. Compatible with all Fujifilm X-mount lenses.
