Fujifilm's updated compact mid-range body with improved rear screen and firmware features.
The Fujifilm X-T30 II was released in September 2021 as a minor update to the X-T30 (2019), retaining the same 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, X-Processor 4, and all core specifications while upgrading the rear LCD from 1.04M-dot to 1.62M-dot and adding Classic Neg and Eterna Bleach Bypass Film Simulations. The two new Film Simulation modes — both absent from the X-T30 — are the functionally meaningful additions: Classic Neg in particular became one of Fujifilm's most popular profiles following its debut.
The 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor pairs with the X-Processor 4 — identical to the X-T30 in both sensor and processor. The 425-point phase and contrast detect AF, 20fps electronic burst, and 4K/30fps video specifications are unchanged from the X-T30. The upgraded 1.62M-dot rear LCD provides improved resolution for image review. Battery life approximately 315 shots using the NP-W126S, body weight approximately 378g with battery and card, single SD/SDHC/SDXC slot.
The X-T30 II's practical advances over the X-T30 are the LCD upgrade and additional Film Simulations. The 1.62M-dot LCD displays finer detail for image review than the X-T30's 1.04M-dot panel. Classic Neg provides a signature colour rendering for documentary and street photography in JPEG that has driven strong preference among X-series photographers. For users who shoot RAW primarily or have the X-T30's existing Film Simulations, the II's improvements are incremental rather than transformative.
On the used market the X-T30 II commands a modest premium over the X-T30. The X-T3 provides the same sensor with weather sealing, dual SD slots, and a larger battery at a higher price. For photographers primarily interested in the Classic Neg Film Simulation, the firmware update history for the X-T30 should be checked — in some cases later firmware updates brought additional simulations to the X-T30. Condition checks: tilting screen hinge, NP-W126S battery health, and single SD slot contacts. Compatible with all Fujifilm X-mount lenses.
