Fujifilm's hybrid stills-video flagship with IBIS, flip screen, and improved autofocus.
The Fujifilm X-T4 was launched in 2020 as the first X-T body with in-body image stabilisation. With a 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, IBIS, and a fully articulating screen, it addressed the two biggest complaints about the X-T3 and positioned itself as Fujifilm's first true hybrid stills-video body.
Key features include 5-axis IBIS providing up to 6.5 stops of stabilisation, a vari-angle touchscreen, 15fps mechanical shutter burst, subject-detect AF, and 4K 60fps video with no crop. The NP-W235 battery is a significant upgrade over previous X-T bodies. The body is weather-sealed and built to a high standard with traditional analogue dials.
The X-T4 is praised for finally bringing IBIS to the X-T line, excellent video capability, and the versatile flip screen. It is criticised for being larger and heavier than the X-T3, which purists found departed from the X-T line's compact philosophy. The X-T5 returned to a smaller body in 2022.
Good value used as the X-T5 has superseded it. Check shutter count, IBIS operation, and the flip screen hinge. The X-T4 remains the better video camera of the two due to its fully articulating screen. An excellent all-round APS-C mirrorless camera.
